Liverpool have pulled off one of the biggest surprises of the transfer window by landing a £70m-rated Premier League centre-back in a dramatic move that could reshape their defence. As manager Arne Slot looks to solidify the Reds’ backline, this blockbuster transfer represents a huge show of ambition. The player is expected to undergo a medical and join up with the squad imminently.
The Merseyside giants are set to step up their efforts to sign a centre-back in the coming days, with Jarell Quansah set to leave Anfield in the ongoing summer transfer window.
They needed a central defender even before Quansah’s Bayer Leverkusen move became a reality, with the club failing to sign Dean Huijsen earlier in the window.
Liverpool are pressing forward with their attempts to land a real Premier League centre-back of pedigree, which will add quality depth to their squad ahead of next season.

Liverpool are pushing to sign Premier League centre-back Marc Guehi

Liverpool have been in talks with his representatives, and have edged ahead of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in their bid to land Marc Guehi.
The Reds have agreed on personal terms with his agents, and Guehi wants to join the Merseyside giants despite having offers from other Premier League sides.
Daily Mail reporter Lewis Steele has revealed that Liverpool’s move for the centre-back seems imminent, even though they are yet to make an offer for him.
“I said in my last video that Marc Guehi is definitely an option for Liverpool. That’s now even more evident. I’ve started to have messages from people who are saying it’s definitely an interesting one to keep an eye on”, Steele said on his YouTube channel.
“There are no definites on this, no bids have gone in yet.”
Crystal Palace rated him in excess of £70m last summer, but are expected to accept somewhere around £40m this year because of his contract situation.
