Liverpool are in the market for a striker, and are expected to spend big sums to bring in a top number 9 in the upcoming transfer window. They are in a race with Arsenal and Bayern Munich for the signature of a top La Liga attacker ahead of the summer.
Richard Hughes’ focus is on securing an ambitious deal to sign Florian Wirtz, which could see the Reds break the club and Premier League transfer record for a player.
However, the focus is still on getting the number 9 that Arne Slot badly wants ahead of next season, and several strikers are being assessed ahead of the transfer window.
Liverpool are now eyeing a move for a former Premier League forward in Spain, but are facing competition from Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the summer window.

The Reds are scheduled for talks with the striker soon

Atletico Madrid spent a massive sum of close to £82m to sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City, but he is again getting linked with a move this year.
Liverpool are among the clubs, alongside Arsenal and Bayern Munich are interested in getting their hands on the forward in the upcoming transfer window.
According to El Chiringuito TV, Alvarez and his representatives will start holding talks with his suitors from next week onwards as he decides his future.
The Argentinian proved himself at Manchester City before moving to Spain, where he has scored 29 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions.
Liverpool will soon sit down with the forward and his camp and look to convince him to move to Anfield.
A move to Bayern Munich makes little sense due to Harry Kane’s presence, and the Reds have an edge over Arsenal in the race for Alvarez.
However, it would take big money to convince Atletico Madrid to sell him, given the investment they made in him last summer.
But Liverpool could drive down the price by using Atletico Madrid’s interest in Darwin Nunez as leverage in negotiations.
