Liverpool held talks this week to complete “sensational” marquee move within the next few weeks

Jude Bellingham

The transfer window is winding down and closes in just over three weeks but Liverpool are reportedly still in talks over new signings.

The club’s most high-profile target is Jude Bellingham and Football Insider reports that talks were held this week over a deal to sign the midfielder in 2023.

The report states that “new talks” were held this week and that they “could even have an agreement in place within weeks”.

Liverpool could sign Bellingham as early as January but although his arrival is more likely to be in the summer, they “are increasingly confident of” completing a deal to sign the teenager.

His arrival at Anfield would further safeguard Liverpool’s future as he offers immediate quality but also the promise to be one of the best midfielders the Premier League has ever seen.

That is, of course, a premature claim until he arrives in England and begins making good on the potential he has displayed with Borussia Dortmund and the Three Lions.

He is expected to travel with the national team to the Qatar World Cup later this year and if Liverpool have secured an agreement for his signature by then, fans will be super excited to watch him on the biggest stage there is in football.

Despite not signing a central midfielder so far, it’s undeniable that the Reds want to add to their engine room.

They were unsuccessful in signing Aurelien Tchouameni at the start of the window but Liverpool’s attempts at recruiting the Frenchman proves that Jurgen Klopp also sees his midfield depth as a worry.

With Curtis Jones out for 2-4 weeks and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for between 2-3 months, the cracks are already appearing in midfield.

An injury to one of Thiago or Naby Keita would put Jurgen Klopp in an extremely tricky situation.
