Liverpool have concrete interest in Harvey Barnes, according to the Athletic, but are yet to make a bid for him and he is set to sign a new Leicester deal.

The 23-year-old suffered a nasty knee injury last season that forced him to miss 122 days and this derailed Liverpool’s interest in him it seems.

Any plans they might have had to sign him this year will have been put on hold due to the injury and it now looks as though he will recommit himself to Leicester.

David Ornstein says the Reds have ‘concrete interest’ in the forward and it’s obvious why – he suits Klopp’s Liverpool down to a tee.

He’s not only got the ability to press the opposition but once he’s on the ball, Barnes is a scary player.

Blessed with frightening pace, the young forward can run beyond pretty much any defender in the Premier League and he fits perfectly into that 21-24 age bracket that FSG likes to shop in.

With Barnes yet to put pen to paper on a new deal, there’s still time for Liverpool to step in and hijack Brendan Rodgers’ gem.
