Liverpool started the season well, but recent turnouts haven’t resulted in success. Going seven games unbeaten across all competitions, the streak came to a stop when the Reds took on Crystal Palace again at Selhurst Park.
Playing in London for the second time this season, the Merseysiders remembered their first game of the season. Palace had defeated Liverpool previously in the FA Community Shield, the English season opener.
However, the Reds did bounce back after the drama at Wembley, but yeah, another day in London was probably too much to ask for.
The Eagles had gone 17 games unbeaten as the Merseysiders proved to be just another number on this record. But just like the last time, they had hoped to regroup after a loss in the capital.
Unfortunately, Arne Slot got the total opposite of it as Turkey ended up being a nightmare as Liverpool lost 1-0 to Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.
Arne Slot Liverpool criticism

Slot obviously faced criticism after having lost crucial clashes. The Dutchman, however, has now responded to the criticism as the gaffer owns the faults.
“In the last two games we’ve lost, we’ve lost a few very simple balls, and that adds to the thought, ‘wow, are we playing poor?’ as we let ourselves down.”
“We were 2-0 up against Bournemouth, very, very, very good game, much better than we’ve played in the second half of the season. But then we concede two, and everybody is starting to be more negative about that as well.”
“And I can come up with a few other examples. Against Atletico Madrid, it was an unbelievable start of the game, but then they come back in the game, and all of a sudden the general opinion is not as positive anymore.”

Season positives and midfield talks
Slot didn’t stop there as he also mentioned there were positives despite recent performances. He also talked about the change in the midfield setup that needs time to adapt.
“There are enough positives to take from this season. If you talk about open play goals, we’ve done much better in the first part of this season than the second part of last season.”
“But there are also things we definitely have to improve. I’m the first one to acknowledge that. We’ve brought in a very different midfielder than we had last season, which we think we needed because the amount of goals we found from open play in the first part of last season and the second part of last season, there’s a big, big difference.”
