Liverpool are preparing to welcome back their international stars this week as the get ready to face Chelsea in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds are sitting top of the Premier League table as they prepare for the big Premier League clash at home this weekend.
Several of their stars will start filtering through the gates of AXA training centre this week and start preparing for the arrival of Chelsea on Merseyside.
Liverpool’s England contingent will soon report for training following their win over Finland on Sunday but some of their South American stars will arrive late this week.
One of the big players who is set for a late arrival this week is Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister who reported for the national team camp while he was injured.
He picked up a groin injury in Liverpool’s 1-0 win at Selhurst Park and didn’t play the second half against Crystal Palace.
However, Argentina’s decision to have him report for duty at the camp surprised many and he was training away from the rest of the squad last week.
Liverpool wary of the midfielder aggravating the injury this week
Much to Liverpool’s relief he didn’t feature in Argentina’s 1-1 draw against Venezuela last week.
However, according to Ole, the midfielder has returned to full training with the rest of the Argentina squad this week.
Liverpool are likely to remain informed about his level of fitness at the moment but he is set to be in the squad against Bolivia.
It has been claimed that the midfielder could even find himself in the starting eleven given his importance to the team.
Liverpool will keep their fingers crossed that he doesn’t aggravate his injury or pick up a new problem if he starts against Bolivia on Tuesday night.
Mac Allister’s presence in the midfield has been vital in Liverpool getting the best of Ryan Gravenberch as a number 6 this season.
A fresh injury to the Argentinian could send Arne Slot’s midfield plans for a toss especially as they prepare for big games against Chelsea and Arsenal.
