Fans are confused by a tweet from the club’s Twitter account as they revealed that Divock Origi is “launching a new scholarship in partnership with the University of Liverpool.”
The Athletic’s James Pearce writes that Divock Origi is on the chopping block after he barely contributed this season, making just two Premier League starts.
He scored just one goal all season and seems an obvious exit this summer but a tweet from the official Liverpool Twitter account has raised some eyebrows from Reds.
The club tweeted: “Divock Origi is launching a new scholarship in partnership with the University of Liverpool.” A link to the club site was also included with more information on what is being called ‘The Divock Origi Shcolarship’ which will be offered to two students.
Fans have reacted to the tweet, suggesting that the education scheme hints at a potential summer stay.

It would be the most Origi thing ever if he came to life next season after one of the worst seasons of his career. The Belgian is such a talented player but he’s had serious issues displaying that with regularity.
Supporters will never forget his Champions League contributions during the 2018/19 season as he devastated Barcelona in the semi-final before scoring the second goal in the final against Spurs.
Liverpool are still likely to sell him and sign a new forward but it speaks to his character that he is still making a huge contribution to the city.
According to the club, “The scholarship will be open to two students in the 21-22 academic year and will cover tuition fees (£9,250 per year), as well as an annual payment of £3,000 towards living costs. A third student will also be funded in the 2022-23 academic year, followed by a fourth and final student in 2023-24.”

When he does leave, Origi will definitely be considered as a club legend for helping create one of the most amazing memories Liverpool fans have.
The ‘corner taken quickly’ moment will live on in Reds’ fans memories for a long, long time and I can’t see it being topped any time soon.
Hopefully, he joins a club that can help him return to goalscoring ways as well as a chance to win silverware.
