“Sign him”: Many fans drool over £27m winger that James Pearce says Liverpool want – next Mo Salah

Liverpool fans have been drooling over Jarrod Bowen after he scythed through Newcastle on what can only be described as a ‘mad tear’.

Earlier this week, I wrote that Liverpool should steer clear of Bowen but perhaps I haven’t been paying close enough attention.

While watching Newcastle vs. West Ham, the English forward was utterly sensational and showed why the Reds want him.

He ran right through Newcastle, dribbling past four players and the only criticism I have is that he couldn’t find the finish to match the dribbling.

According to James Pearce, while writing for the Athletic, Bowen is on Liverpool’s radar and they will “continue to monitor his development even if they don’t ultimately pursue a deal this summer.”

He scored eight goals and got five assists last season and Pearce said, while on The Red Sea Podcast, he thinks he bears similarities to Mane and Salah due to the type of transfer he would be for Liverpool.

He said: “I just think Liverpool will be in the market for, rather than the finished article, they’ll be in the market for what Sadio Mane was like four, five years ago when he came in, and similarly with Mo Salah.

“Those players who aren’t absolutely world-class, but they believe that with Klopp, and with the structure at Liverpool, that they can elevate them to that kind of level.”

It’s amazing how football fans can be so fickle. Just a couple days ago I was campaigning against signing Bowen and here I am suggesting he could be a good signing for Liverpool.

The main reason why signing him this summer makes no sense is that Jurgen Klopp doesn’t need another right-sided left-footed winger.

He’s yet to offload Xherdan Shaqiri and has Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott to choose from even if the former Stoke City man does move to Lyon as looks likely.

Bowen could do with another full season to prove that he’s got what it takes to score and assist 20 goals per season.
