Liverpool face problems in the signing of Fulham wonderkid

Liverpool wonderkid

Liverpool are always in the mood to poach talent left and right as the Reds have always fancied the best talents on the Isles. Rio Ngumoha is probably the best recent example of the potential payoff.

The English teenager has already managed to score a goal in just 153 minutes for the Reds. At 16 years and 135 days, he became the youngest Liverpool player to start a first-team match against Accrington Stanley.

After impressing in training and his debut, Ngumoha scored and assisted multiple goals with the first team during the pre-season.

Arne Slot was confident in the teenager’s potential as he kept giving the attacker more chances with the first team. Coming on as a substitute in the game against Newcastle United, no one had hoped for what was to come.

The game was in a deadlock, but Ngumoha proved to be the key as he scored the winner in the 100th minute against the Magpies. He became the youngest goalscorer in Liverpool history and also scored one of the latest winning goals in Premier League history.

The Merseysiders won’t stop in their search for the best talent. However, this time around, Liverpool are facing a big wall trying to sign one of the best talents on the Isles.

Fulham’s Kayden Sessegnon was identified as the Cottagers’ biggest offering. Obviously, the Reds wanted to get their hands on the 15-year-old despite the competition.

However, things seem hard as TBR Football reports that Kayden doesn’t want to make a switch away from the Craven Cottage at the moment.

Liverpool has a history of dealing with Fulham youngsters like Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho, but Sessegon wants to follow in the footsteps of his uncles.

Kayden Sessegnon’s Fulham family links

Interestingly, Kayden’s uncles both came through Fulham’s academy and went on to make senior appearances for the Cottagers.

Both Steven and Ryan Sessegnon shared time at Fulham before parting ways. Ryan returned to Craven Cottage in 2024 after navigating loan deals and a stint at Tottenham Hotspur.

Steven, however, now plays in the third tier of English football at Wigan Athletic. Kayden has already made appearances for the club’s U18 side at the age of 15.

He’ll be able to sign a scholar’s contract next year in July and will be eligible to sign a professional one when he turns 17. Liverpool probably won’t give up as they might know the doors again in the future.
