This season, Mohamed Salah has not quite been himself as Liverpool continue to struggle in recent weeks. Arne Slot’s side were off to a great start to the campaign before things started falling apart at the end of August.
It has now been five losses in six games since then and fans are asking questions about the team. Arne Slot seems to not be addressing the tactical issues on the pitch, but is very vocal explaining recent losses.
His team selection has also left a lot to be desired in recent weeks, as well as his use of new signings. Alexander Isak, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have struggled early in their time at the club so far.
Mohamed Salah still has Saudi offer on the table
Another thing that seems to have doomed Liverpool is the poor performances of last year’s stars. Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah in particular have been singled out this season.
The two have not played to their best since the start of the season, and it is reflecting in the poor form so far. Liverpool may be regretting giving out huge contract extensions this past off season. But they do have a lifeline when it comes to Mohamed Salah according to reports.
Graeme Bailey has revealed that Saudi clubs are still interested in signing the 33-year old, who could be tempted by a £150 million-a-year package.
“Mo Salah and Pro League links won’t go away, but he doesn’t want them to; he will end up in Saudi Arabia one day.
“I can confirm that the Saudis’ offer to Salah is an open one, the deal is ready for him as and when he wants it.
“They are not talking to him now, and haven’t talked to him or Liverpool about a deal in January; they don’t really need to, they are ready when he is.”
Mohamed Salah was recently benched by Liverpool boss Arne Slot, leading to some speculation of a rift in the dressing room.
It is the right time for Liverpool to cash in on Salah
Salah earned his new contract off the back of performances last season, but if he continues at this rate, it could be time for the club to let go. And with Saudi clubs willing to offer some serious money for a player near his prime, Liverpool may be tempted to sell.
At the end of this season, Salah turns 34, and looking at his performances it is not crazy to sell him at this point. With new major attacking arrivals like Isak and Wirtz, Liverpool will be okay if they part ways with the Egyptian – especially for the rumoured fee.
