Liverpool considering bringing in exciting youngster

Arne Slot will have to play a new backup for Mohamed Salah

Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table and have emerged as a contender to win the Premier League alongside Manchester City and Arsenal this season.

However, the injuries are mounting up and Arne Slot is set to miss a few key players from his squad in the next few weeks as they prepare for an important run of games.

Slot has preferred Diogo Jota as the central striker this season but the Portuguese has missed the last two games and has been ruled out until after the November international break.

Harvey Elliott is also missing due to a broken foot and Slot will have a few selection worries in the coming weeks as he pushes to hold on to the momentum his side have built this season but without a few key players.

Liverpool are also planning for the January transfer window and there are claims that a youngster could be recalled from his loan to fill the gaps in Slot’s squad for the latter half of the season.

‘Maybe we should get him back’ – The Liverpool manager

Liverpool loaned out Ben Doak to Middlesbrough in the summer and he has been an important player in Michael Carrick’s squad this season.

He has started six Championship games this season for a side who are in the race for the playoff spots and Middlesbrough expect him to be a big player for the team’s hopes of getting promoted.

Slot admitted that Doak is doing well under a very good manager at Boro but admitted that Liverpool will need to consider their self-interests as well.

He pointed toward the injuries in his forward line and indicated that the Welshman could be asked to return to Anfield in the winter transfer window.

“For Ben Doak, it’s similar. He also went to a very good manager and they have a very good playing style”, he said in a press conference.

“It’s a balance we need to find: do we want to play them on a regular basis or once in a while and keep them with us where we have to be aware of our own interests?

“Like you see now, we’ve got six forwards, two of them are injured, so only four left. With the schedule we have, that’s sometimes a bit of a worry for me.

“Maybe we should bring Ben Doak back!”
