Liverpool could be on the verge of breaking the bank for an ‘explosive’ striker in a shock transfer twist that has left fans guessing. While details remain under wraps, reports suggest the Reds are lining up a blockbuster move for a high-profile forward as they prepare to revamp their frontline.
The Merseyside giants have the funds to spend big on a striker this summer, despite being on the cusp of agreeing a British record transfer fee for the arrival of Florian Wirtz.
Alexander Isak is the striker Liverpool would have preferred to sign if Newcastle United were willing to play ball, but an alternative has been lined up by the recruitment team.
Liverpool have been in talks with his representative, and will now have to break the bank to finalise the arrival of the explosive striker in a deal that would be a major transfer twist.

Liverpool set to sign explosive striker Hugo Ekitike in a shocking transfer twist

Liverpool have the edge in the race to sign Hugo Ekitike, who is also a target for Chelsea and Manchester United this summer.
However, Chelsea are reluctant to meet Eintracht Frankfurt’s £85m asking price, and Manchester United have just entered the race to sign him.
However, German reporter Christian Falk has insisted that Liverpool will have to break the bank to sign Ekitike, and Eintracht are more than happy to keep him if their demands are not fulfilled.
“The race is completely open again for Hugo Ekitike. In addition to Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are still interested in the striker”, Falk told CaughtOffside.
“Frankfurt have made it clear to Chelsea: if they don’t pay €100m, the player will stay. This also applies to the next season. Frankfurt are playing in the Champions League and do not have to sell him. With Omar Marmoush, the club also held out until the very end in order to get the required transfer fee.
“Ekitike can still imagine a move to the Premier League. Now it’s up to the clubs to pay the right price.”
