Liverpool are trying to sort out the Trent Alexander-Arnold contract but negotiations have dragged on for months. The Reds vice-captain has kept his counsel but he is said to be tempted by the prospect of joining Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Real Madrid have been laying down the groundwork on a deal for the defender for months and have informally offered him a mega-deal to move to the Spanish capital next summer.
The Spanish giants will make the formal approach in January if a new deal doesn’t get agreed upon between Liverpool and the defender and they are growing confident that Alexander-Arnold won’t sign on the dotted lines with the Reds.
Liverpool are still trying to convince him but more and more voices are suggesting that the defender is likely to move on from Anfield at the end of the season.
However, Liverpool have received a surprising boost in their attempts to convince the defender to stay put at Anfield for the time being.
The Trent Alexander-Arnold contract situation gets a fresh update

There is talk of Real Madrid considering signing the defender in January given their issues at the back this season.
An audacious swap deal involving Alexander-Arnold and Aurelien Tchouameni between the two clubs has been touted but it seems that is not expected to happen.
According to The Athletic, the defender won’t be leaving Liverpool in the winter transfer window, as things stand.
Any transfer fee that Real Madrid would have to fork out would affect the signing-on fee Alexander-Arnold would be due when he joins the club.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
The player is unlikely to want to take a financial hit and will only leave Liverpool on a free transfer if he does.
Liverpool are also not expected to want to sell him in the middle of a season where they are being tipped to win the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold remains a key player and Liverpool would rather have him helping them win the title than getting them some money from his sale in January.
It will also give Liverpool more time to work on the player provided he doesn’t sign a pre-contract with Real Madrid.
