“Liverpool are set to sign…” Fabrizo Romano reports that a deal to sign attacking midfielder is “almost done”

Fabio Carvalho

Fabrizio Romano confirms that Liverpool are close to signing Fabio Carvalho from Fulham after the Reds almost secured his signature on Deadline Day in January.

The Portuguese attacking midfielder is clearly an important target for the club as they have made wrapping it up before the end of the season a priority.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “The agreement between Fabio Carvalho and Liverpool and between Liverpool Fulham is really imminent.

“Liverpool are set to sign Fabio Carvalho. We expect the ‘Here We Go really soon but the deal is almost done.

“Important update for Liverpool fans: I have news about this talented boy – Fabio Carvalho!”

The 19-year-old has 8 goals and 7 assists this season and could offer an entirely different approach in attack. Typically, the Reds take a wide approach to creating chances for their attackers, relying on crosses from their fullbacks.

Not since Philippe Coutinho left the club has Jürgen Klopp’s side had a no.10 but in Carvalho, the German could switch his tactics up to accommodate a more creative midfield approach.

Liverpool will pay Fulham a £5million fee upfront with £2.7m in add-ons as the two clubs have reached an agreement which means they will be able to avoid having to go to a tribunal.

Romano says there is also a 20 percent sell-on clause included while he will be a Liverpool player until 2027.
