According to RTL Sport journalist Alexandre Braeckmanm, Liverpool are ‘best placed’ to sign Jeremy Doku’ from Rennes.

In the summer, another journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed that talks have been held for Doku and that he would cost the Reds in the region of €50million (£42.7m).

Now, Braeckmanm suggests that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are in pole position to land the lightning-quick Belgian forward.

He said on Twitter that “Liverpool [are] best placed at this stage” to sign Doku, who “could go away this summer”.

If Liverpool are going to match Manchester City, United and Chelsea by signing the likes of Jack Grealish, Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku, they can only do so by going out and signing the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

However, if they’re going to continue with their current transfer model and sign a young forward that can make an immediate impact while also sitting on the bench with a view to one day taking Sadio Mane’s place, Jeremy Doku is the best option.

Jeremy Doku is going to be a spectacular player

For those of you that don’t watch Ligue 1 or follow any players that play for French sides, Doku is going right to the top and if he can add more end product to his game he’s going to be a truly special player.

He’s still only 19 so it’s certainly too soon to judge him based on his goals and assists but if you remember Sadio Mane at Southampton, you’ll remember he wasn’t nearly as prolific or influential and that can be attributed to Klopp’s ability to get the best out of attacking players.

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND - MAY 04: Jurgen Klopp, Manager of Liverpool embraces Sadio Mane of Liverpool after the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Liverpool FC at St. James Park on May 04, 2019 in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

FSG get a lot of hate for their lack of spending at Liverpool and I agree that they should because they are being carried by Klopp’s managerial excellence but it must be said that it’s a match made in heaven.

I would love to see Doku arrive at Liverpool and see what Klopp could do with the teenager and if he could get the best out of him, there’s no doubt he’d have a terrific career.
