Liverpool and United to battle it out for breakout PL star – only earns £3k-a-week

Moises Caicedo

Liverpool and Manchester City are set to battle it out for the signature of the Premier League’s biggest breakout star of the season so far.

The long-time rivals are amongst the leading names to secure the signing of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

Having impressed against United last year and again in the first game of this season, Caicedo has received almost universal acclaim for his powerful midfield performances.

With Liverpool potentially on the hunt for a new midfielder – Caicedo fits the bill almost perfectly.

Latest reports on Caicedo

As per South American source Studio Football, Man United made a firm offer to sign the 20-year-old from the Seagulls.

The news outlet also claims that Liverpool are hoping to sign the Ecuadorian international and are preparing a bid worth €50M in order to secure his signature.

Jurgen Klopp had come out to explain their current transfer stance, given the noise surrounding Naby Keita and his reported unhappiness.

It seems the club is waiting for the right choice rather than making any hasty transfer decisions which follow the trend of Liverpool in the Klopp era.

A top player in the making?

Having had a great start to the 2022/23 season, at only 20 years old he looks like a real bargain for Brighton – having signed the player for only £4.5M back in 2021.

He stands out as a powerful midfielder who loves to win tackles and get the ball forward. He’s also experienced at international level for Ecuador and will be a key player at the 2022 World Cup.

Caicedo is developing quickly, but the impact he’s had so far has been exceptional and now he stands as the hottest midfield (bargain) midfielder for anyone who needs a central midfield player.

Currently, Caicedo earns £3K-a-week but expect that to change really soon as Brighton are either likely to offer him an upgraded deal or a big club will come in and pay him at least 10x his current deal.
