Liverpool Set for Shock £45m Deal as Marc Guehi Nears Anfield Switch

Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of signing Crystal Palace centre-back and captain Marc Guehi in a shock £45m deal. With just one year left on his contract and talks already advanced, the England international appears close to sealing a move to Anfield ahead of the new season.

The Crystal Palace defender has a year left on his contract and has emerged as the top target for Liverpool, who are in the market for a centre-back this summer.

Several other Premier League clubs also have their eyes on him, but Guehi has been willing to reject offers from Arsenal and Newcastle United for a move to Liverpool.

The defender has been assessing his options, and while he has concerns about not being a starter at Anfield, Marc Guehi is closing in on a £45m move to Liverpool.

Guehi closes in on £45m switch to Liverpool

According to DaveOCKOP, the negotiations are at an advanced stage for Guehi to join Liverpool from Crystal Palace in the ongoing transfer window.

Liverpool have held discussions with his representatives to take him to Anfield, and it seems a deal is now progressing towards its completion.

Palace would rather sell him this summer than watch him leave on a free transfer and join a club such as Real Madrid next year.

Guehi has always prioritised a move to Liverpool ahead of next season, despite Newcastle’s attempts to convince him to move to the north-east of England.

A deal is now close to being agreed upon between Liverpool and Palace for the centre-back to move to the Premier League champions this summer.

This would come as a shock for Newcastle, who were chasing him since last summer and believed they had the edge in the race to sign him.

Another Richard Hughes masterstroke

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is in top form this summer. Liverpool have already signed three players, including the £116m arrival of Florian Wirtz.

He is now closing in on adding a fourth new face to the squad, and a massive upgrade on Jarell Quansah in Guehi.

The defender, who turns 25 next month, was one of England’s best players in their run to the European Championship final last year, and is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League.

His arrival would not only upgrade Liverpool’s defence but would also cause less panic at Anfield if Ibrahima Konate leaves later in the summer.

Guehi is a Premier League-proven centre-back who would walk into any of the top teams in the English top flight, and Liverpool getting him would be brilliant business.

And at a price rumoured to be between £40m and £45m, he would be one of the shrewdest signings in recent years at Anfield.
