Liverpool lay eyes on goalkeeping prodigy

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and his recruitment team are identifying areas of their squad that need strengthening next summer. There is serious speculation that the club will see a major upheaval in the goalkeeping department ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Reds have a deal in place to sign Giorgi Mamaradashvili from Valencia next summer and he will be coming in with the idea of being the first-choice at Anfield.

Caoimhin Kelleher is almost certain to leave the club at the end of the season given the fact that he will only have a year left on his contract and wants to be a number one somewhere.

However, there were a few raised eyebrows when it emerged last week that Liverpool are even planning to sell their current number one Alisson Becker next summer.

He has been a massive player for Liverpool since joining the club in 2018 but they are worried about his recent injuries and feel in Mamaradashvili they are getting a long-term replacement for Alisson.

The Brazilian’s departure will likely mean Liverpool will be in the market for another goalkeeper next summer and the club could choose to bring in someone younger.

The Reds are interested in a teenage goalkeeper from Italy

According to Turin-based daily Tuttosport, Liverpool are among the clubs are circling around Roma’s 18-year-old goalkeeper Renato Marin ahead of next summer.

A product of the Roma academy, he has already represented the Italy Under-19s and is considered a great goalkeeping talent in his homeland.

While he has yet to make his debut for the Serie A giants, Marin has been the designated second-choice goalkeeper in the squad this season.

However, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Liverpool are pushing to convince him to move to England next summer.

The Reds see him as a prodigious talent and want him at the club as a potential future first-choice goalkeeper.

However, they are facing serious competition from Juventus who are pressing forward to secure a deal with the goalkeeper’s representatives.

Roma are also still trying to convince him to sign a new deal but there is an expectation that Marin will leave the Stadio Olimpico at the end of the season.
