Earlier today, reports came out about Ibrahima Konate’s release from the France squad for their World Cup Qualifiers match against Iceland. But his injury could be the ‘lucky’ break that another player may need.
Konate will be returning to Anfield to have the extent of his injury assessed by the club’s medical team. As of the moment, there are no reports of Konate having aggravating his problem. Although the 26-year old did sit out during France’s training sessions.
After not getting any minutes against Azerbaijan, Benjamin Pavard was announced as his replacement. But it is another player who may turn out to be the ‘lucky’ winner due to the situation.

Konate injury gives lucky break player

Konate’s injury can be the blessing in disguise for a talented younster. Arne Slot has shown faith towards the younger players in the squad. The Dutch man has not shied away from fielding youth team players.
Both Trey Nyoni and ‘wonderkid’ Rio Ngumoha have been promoted to the first team. Ngummoha even scored the winner against Newcastle in August. And now Wellity Lucky will likely benefit from the scenario.
The 19-year old had penned a contract extension of three years during the pre-season. Presently, Lucky alongside Van Djik and Joe Gomez are the only available natural centre-backs available to Slot.
Defender has suitors in the market
The Academy star has been attracting lucrative proposals from top-flight clubs in Germany and Spain, including the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Although the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo can play in the central defence if called upon, Liverpool clearly rate Lucky as man for the future. A good run of form and impressive displays can further improve his stock at Anfield.
