Jurgen Klopp makes shock admission

Jurgen Klopp has made an interesting career choice since leaving Liverpool at the end of the season and is set to become the global head of soccer for the Red Bull Group from 1st January.

The German attained a cult status at Anfield over his nine years as Liverpool manager and is likely to go down as one of the greatest to hold that post on Merseyside.

Liverpool fans have unquestionable love for him and his decision to join the Red Bull Group has had little effect on his popularity amongst the Reds supports.

However, the reception in Germany has been very different with some observers feeling sad and shocked at his decision to join the Red Bull Group, who are often seen as the enemy of football in Germany due to the way they operate RB Leipzig.

Klopp has also been accused of breaking a promise to Liverpool fans and Dortmund and Mainz fans have held up banners at their stadiums to criticise their former manager.

However, the 57-year-old seem unperturbed by all the noise and conceded that he was always going to return to football in a new role.

Jurgen Klopp indicates that he doesn’t want to be a manager again any time soon

Klopp insisted that he could not have done much to make everyone happy and insisted that the opportunity to join the Red Bull Group was too hard to turn down.

He indicated that he has no desire to return to coaching any time soon and Red Bull gave him the opportunity to remain in football in a different capacity.

“I certainly didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes”, Klopp said on Toni Kroos’ Podcast.

“And I personally love all my former clubs. I don’t know exactly what I could have done so that everyone would have been happy.

“I am 57 so I can still work for a couple more years but I don’t really see myself on the sideline for the time being.

“But it was always clear that I wasn’t going to do nothing at all and this story from Red Bull came into the picture and for me it is outstanding.

“I always had the feeling that the coach is very often the loneliest person at the club.”

Klopp has been linked with succeeding Julian Nagelsmann as the Germany head coach if the latter leaves his post following the World Cup in 2026.
