Liverpool are reportedly set to bid £30million for Adama Traore and I’ve gone back to find quotes from Jurgen Klopp on the Wolves speed demon.

According to a report from a week ago from the Daily Star, Liverpool are preparing to bid £30million to sign Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool are looking for ways to bolster their attack after a season that saw the Reds waste a myriad of chances at key moments.

While defensive injuries dominated the headlines, the subplot behind the Anfield side’s third-place Premier League finish was wastefulness in front of goal.

Sadio Mane, feeling the effects of long covid, and Roberto Firmino, feeling the effects of playing football non-stop for three years straight, struggled to match Mohamed Salah’s fine form.

While Mane and Firmino experienced purple patches at the end of the season, Liverpool need to add to their ranks and Traore could be an interesting option.

He seems like the type that would be willing to sit on the bench in return for increased wages, the chances to win silverware and to play in the Champions League with the best players.

There’s no doubting that Jurgen Klopp is a fan of his after quotes he made following Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Wolves in 2020.

The German told reporters: “[Traore] is unplayable in moments, it’s unbelievable

“What a player – it’s not only him but he’s so good.”

As a squad option, the Spaniard would be fantastic and at £30million, it would be a good price.

Wolves should have a good relationship with the Reds after a deal that saw Diogo Jota arrive at Anfield while Ki-Jana Hoever went the other way.

It’s unclear if Liverpool can organise a similar deal this summer but if reports are true and Wolves are keen on signing Divock Origi, maybe a similar deal can be arranged.
