Dean Jones told the Done Deal Show from the Football Terrace Show YouTube channel what he’s heard about Liverpool’s transfer plans.

Liverpool have two weeks to get any of their transfers done – whether it’s incomings or outgoings.

Xherdan Shaqiri’s move to Lyon is yet to be sealed and the Reds chances of signing a foreign player still hinge on selling him.

The Switzerland forward was not included in the Reds’ final pre-season against Osasuna, has not trained at Kirkby since and was not part of the squad for the Premier League opener against Norwich City.

Born in Kosovo in 1991, he has represented Switzerland at three FIFA World Cups as well as being a Champions League `winner with Germany's Bayern Munich.

Speaking while on a recent edition of The Done Deal Show, Jones said: “I don’t believe that Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t have liked at least one signing.

“I still wouldn’t completely rule out them making one more signing, but at the moment, we’re being told, basically, not to expect that.

“It’s not looking likely that Liverpool do sign anyone.”

Anfield Central understands that the club is working on bringing in at least one new player but it’s very challenging due to the Premier League’s rules on non-homegrown talent.

After Renato Sanches’ meniscus injury, it’s now clear that he definitely isn’t a target for the Reds despite being heavily linked recently.

Saul has been linked with Liverpool quite a bit himself and most recently, AS claimed that the Reds can agree a deal to bring him to Anfield.

They don’t say how much it would cost but Sport says it would cost FSG in the region of €50m (£42.4m) in spite of the fact that he has a  €150m (£127m) exit clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid.

His arrival would be interesting as it would not only elevate the competition for starting places in central midfield but it would massively improve the Reds depth.

Liverpool have also been linked with Jeremy Doku in the last week, with reliable journalist Sacha Tavolieri telling the Anfield Talk that the Reds want him this summer but will be required to pay €50million.

A follow up from LFC Transfer Room revealed that the Reds have been in direct contact with the player and his agent and have discussed a move to Anfield.

He went on to add that if ‘everything goes well’, the Merseysiders ‘will go further with Rennes’ ‘but need to make space (by selling players) before making an offer”.
