Harvey Elliott believes new Liverpool signing Fabio Carvalho is “a true superstar” on their hands after signing him from Fulham for £5M.
Liverpool came close to joining the Reds in January but when despite an agreement with Fulham, there wasn’t enough time to complete the necessary paperwork.
Carvalho would have become the second Liverpool signing Jurgen Klopp made in January after Luis Diaz signed for £37M, moving from Porto to Merseyside.
Talks continued in the following months before a deal was agreed ahead of the end of the 2021/22 season with a deal finally being announced ahead of the start of the transfer window.
Liverpool signing Carvalho is a “true superstar”, says Elliott
19-year-old Elliott has labelled his fellow teammate as a “true superstar” ahead of his exciting first few months for Liverpool.
While the headlines have been dominated by Darwin Nunez joining Liverpool for a club-record deal, it’s thrilling to think that a potentially world-class and young attacker has just joined the club.
His exploits in the Championship earned him his move to the Premier League and his development could be rapid depending on what Klopp has planned for him.
Elliott, who also has an exciting year ahead of him has called Fabio Carvalho a “true superstar”.
He told the official Liverpool website: “We’ve had a few chats and he’s asked me a few questions and stuff.
“He’s a great kid as well as a great player and hopefully we get to see it in a couple of days’ time. I can’t say enough about him. I’ve said it so many times, I’ll just let him do the talking – which I’m sure he will do.
“He’s buzzing to be here, he’s fit in really well with the boys. I’ve done what I could to help him but, to be honest, I didn’t really need to help him. He’s just fit in and everyone’s taken to him already. What a player, by the way.
So yeah, we have a true superstar on our hands to say the least and I can’t wait to just share the pitch with him and, like the old times, play alongside him, which will be good.”
Liverpool signing Carvalho set for debut against Manchester United
Supporters are set to get their first real glimpse of Fabio Carvalho in pre-season on Tuesday when Manchester United shape up as their first opponents of the summer.
The two Premier League sides are preparing for their first pre-season appearance this summer and Liverpool fans are set to get a glimpse of Carvalho for the first time.
With fitness is still the priority for Jurgen Klopp at this stage of the preparations for the new league season, fans are excited about what to expect from Carvalho.
It’s unclear what role he will be deployed this term and his pre-season displays should offer an indication of what to expect.
Carvalho can play as an attacking no.8, a no.10, a second striker or even on his own as a false nine.
