The record-breaking Alexander Isak transfer wasn’t the easiest to line up for all the parties involved. Amidst the chaos, accusations flew around in Tyneside as the Swede witnessed an ugly exit.

Liverpool broke the British record when they signed Alexander Isak for £125m plus add-ons on deadline day. Having lost three strikers in a season, The Reds were desperate to complete the deal before the clock ran out.

The contract runs till 2031, making it a six-year deal. Also, sources suggest a salary close to £300,000 a week, reaching £15.6m annually.

Liverpool were left with only one No.9 after The Merseysiders saw the departure of three strikers this window. Luis Díaz left for Bayern Munich for roughly £65.5m.

Darwin Núñez, on the other hand, flew for the Saudi Pro League in a deal worth £46m. The Uruguayan wasn’t doing well under Arne Slot, and The Reds decided to cash him out before his contract expiry.

Diogo Jota faced a tragedy as the Portuguese international died in a car crash on the 3rd of July. Jota was driving a rented Lamborghini in Spain, but a tyre blowout steered the vehicle off-road, resulting in the car catching fire.

Alexander Isak’s Swedish teammate, Victor Gyökeres, was asked about his teammate’s well-being after a long deadline day. The Arsenal striker mentioned that they hadn’t talked much, and he just congratulated his fellow countryman.

“I haven’t spoken with him too much as he just came, so I said hello to him and congratulated him for the move, not much more.”

“I said earlier about my situation, I think it can be the same in that you don’t really know what’s been going on behind. I don’t really know in his case what the situation has been exactly, so it’s difficult for me to speak about that.”

“We all play, and the clubs have the most power. It’s maybe difficult for the players to choose in a lot of cases. When it’s a player that is not wanted in that club, I think it’s the total opposite.”

“He doesn’t have any power, the club can literally do whatever they want with the player. It’s difficult, but it’s how the situation is.”

Victor seemed to be empathising with Alexander Isak as he talked about the power play between clubs and players. He mentioned how things would be different if Newcastle were the one that didn’t want Isak.
