Liverpool are getting ready to welcome Chelsea on Merseyside on Sunday for a big Premier League clash at Anfield as they look to test their title credentials against an in-form team.
After seven league games, the Reds lead the Premier League standings but many observers feel the fixture list has been kind to the Reds at the start of the season.
They have back-to-back league games lined up against Chelsea and Arsenal respectively and there is a feeling the next month could prove whether Liverpool are the real deal this year.
Arne Slot will look to continue to prove his detractors wrong in the coming weeks and hope that his Liverpool side deliver a title statement this weekend against Chelsea.
The Blues have also made a solid start to the season under new manager Enzo Maresca and are sitting fourth in the Premier League table.
However, Gary Neville believes Liverpool should have too much for a young Chelsea side at home this weekend.
Chelse are young and the Anfield atmosphere will favour Liverpool – Gary Neville
The former Manchester United captain has backed the Merseyside giants to score a comfortable victory against Maresca’s Chelsea on Sunday.
He pointed out that Chelsea still have a very young team and they are likely to fall short against the Reds.
The former defender also indicated that Anfield should have a big game atmosphere on Sunday, which could be too much for Chelsea to handle.
“Liverpool vs Chelsea we will start with that”, Neville said on Stick to Football podcast.
“I think Liverpool will beat them, I think Chelsea are a bit younger, 3-2, 3-1? We’ll go with Liverpool 3-1.
“I think it will be a big atmosphere that day.”
Alisson Becker won’t be in the team on Sunday after picking up a hamstring injury before the international break. Caoimhin Kelleher will get an opportunity to start in the Liverpool goal in the absence of the Brazilian.
