Federico Chiesa makes decision on Liverpool future

Liverpool have one of the best attacking records in the Premier League this season.

Arne Slot’s side have been brilliant in attack during this campaign. Mohamed Salah has been the spearhead of a Liverpool attack that has 70 goals in the league. The Egyptian has contributed to over 40 of these goals so far. He has been one of the best players in Europe this campaign, and is showing why Liverpool need to renew his contract.

The problem is with his supporting cast. Luis Diaz is Liverpool’s second highest scorer in the league with just nine goals. There are reports that Arne Slot wants new faces in attack ahead of next season, as he has reservations about the current options.

Federico Chiesa reveals Liverpool future

Liverpool have had issues in attack this season. Anytime Mohamed Salah has been marked out of a game, other Liverpool attackers have failed to show up. A prime example was in the games against Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle. In three games against these two opponents, the reds managed just one goal.

Harvey Elliot and Federico Chiesa, two players who have barely seen action this season, came off the bench to score. This was not a great look on Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and the others. Heading into the summer, we could see major changes to the attack. RB Liepzig star Xavi Simons has been linked with a move to Anfield.

The future of Federico Chiesa has been in the news recently. Chiesa has barely featured for the club this season, as he has been out with injury. But when he has played, he has showed flashes of brilliance. Now, Liverpool know what the future holds for the Italian international. According to Christian Falk, Federico Chiesa plans to remain at Anfield past this season.

“He [Chiesa] wants to fulfil his contract until summer 2028. He was also not interested in the winter interest from Napoli, Inter Milan and Lazio because he wants to assert himself on Merseyside.

“The fact that he has had problems so far is due to his two injuries. He wants to show Liverpool this season just how valuable he can be.”

The 27-year old has two goals and an assist in 11 appearances this season.
