Liverpool had one of their more random transfer windows this year as they signed Federico Chiesa right before Deadline Day while they also added Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Well, not really.
Although the Merseysiders reached a €30 million (25,2M) agreement with Valencia for the transfer, it was also agreed that Liverpool will only add the goalkeeper to their squad for next season.
This hasn’t stopped Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano from naming him in his top 10 favourite transfers of the summer.
Romano places Mamardashvili in top 10 favourite summer transfers
“Liverpool have signed a super player with the capture of Georgian international Mamardashvili. I think it’s quite an underrated transfer because he will be a very important player for the club in the future,” Romano said.
“Of course, Liverpool have Alisson, who has been a brilliant goalkeeper for the club, and this is a signing from Liverpool with one eye on the future. Mamardashvili will be a fantastic replacement when the time is right.
“In my opinion, Mamardashvili is worth a lot more than what Liverpool are going to pay for the player. He is a player that will be worth double that fee in the future.”

Mamardashvili really is a top signing
He may not be joining Liverpool this summer but so long as Alisson Becker is in goal and playing at his peak, there is little reason for Mamardashvili to move to Anfield.
The 1.99m (6ft5) Valencia star is a wonderful goalkeeper and if you haven’t yet seen his highlights, I recommend you head straight to YouTube after reading this article.
The move also allows Mamardashvili to focus on his football without worrying about his future all season.
