Despite reports of a move to Barcelona being on the cards, Georginio Wijnaldum is set to sign a two-year contract extension with Liverpool.
According to reliable sources close to Anfield Central, the Dutchman is ready to commit himself the Reds.
Spanish news outlet Sport reported earlier this month that Wijnaldum was pressuring the club to sanction a move to Barcelona worth a fee in the region of £15million.
Now, however, after starting Liverpool’s first game in their defence of their Premier League crown, he is no longer looking for a way out of the club and is ready to sign a new two-year extension on his current contract.
The new deal will see his terms expire at the end of the 2022/23 season and will see him play the rest of his prime out on Merseyside and is a huge sign of strength from a side that has, in the past, been known for selling key players.

Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho all left the club for greener pastures but it no longer seems as though the Anfield faithful need to be worried about the future of the likes of Virgil van Dijk.
Many fans will wonder what bearing this will have on Liverpool’s desire to sign Thiago.
The Reds are still keen on the Spaniard but Bayern Munich’s refusal to budge on their €30m valuation means that the final days of the transfer window will be when real progress is made.
Liverpool are waiting for the European champions to get desperate before they submit an official bid.
