A player has not joined Everton from Liverpool in over three decades, but that could change dramatically this summer. As many as two players could end up crossing the Merseyside divide and end up swapping the red shirt for the blue in the coming weeks.
Liverpool are on the verge of finalising a couple of big deals, including the potential arrival of Florian Wirtz from Bayern Munich for a club-record fee in the ongoing transfer window.
However, the Reds are looking to move on several of their fringe stars in the coming weeks to raise funds in the market and balance their books this summer.
A couple of these Liverpool players could end up doing that no Reds star has done in more than three decades – join Everton from Anfield in a direct transfer.

Everton are considering signing two Liverpool players in a double deal

Ben Doak has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Liverpool after a solid loan spell at Middlesbrough, and Everton are interested in him.
The Toffees are prepared to offer as much as £20m to sign the 19-year-old Scottish winger from the Reds in the ongoing transfer window, and he is one of David Moyes’ priority targets.
However, according to veteran scout Mick Brown, Everton are also eyeing a move for Joe Gomez, who is expected to move on from Anfield after spending more than ten years with Liverpool.
Gomez’s experience appeals to Moyes, who wants to add some steel to Everton’s defensive options ahead of next season.
“Joe Gomez has always been a player Liverpool rate highly”, Brown told Football Insider.
“But Conor Bradley is ahead of him in the pecking order, and now Frimpong has come in as well, so where does that leave Gomez in the pecking order?
“It looks like he’ll be allowed to leave in search of increased playing time, and he’ll be open to that.
“There are a few Premier League sides keeping an eye on that situation, and Everton are one of those.
“It’s a deal that makes a lot of sense because he won’t have to move, and David Moyes wants to add two full-backs to his side.
“Gomez would fit in nicely there with how Moyes plays, and he could do a job at centre-back too.
“Ben Doak is being spoken about as well, he could be another one to leave Liverpool.
“He’s spent a season in the Championship, and he’s clearly a talented player.
“I hear from my sources that Everton are looking at him as well, and that’s something I can see happening for the same reasons as the Gomez deal.
“He’s on the doorstep, so it’s less complicated in those terms, and they need wingers.
“Again, it’s another deal I wouldn’t be surprised to see happen there.
“They’re not the only club interested in either player, but they could make them attractive offers to join.”
