ESPN pundit believes this Chelsea player will be targeted by Liverpool

ESPN pundit believes that Robert Sánchez will be questioned to extra pressure against Liverpool

Chelsea will travel North of England for their away clash against Liverpool on 20th October. The last six head-to-heads have been intense with five ending up in a draw.

Liverpool will be ready to secure another three-pointer with a good balance of the young and experienced. Young Chelsea who have surpassed expectations this season might struggle with the atmosphere at Anfield.

The Blues will be hoping to move closer to the top, with Enzo Maresca at least targeting the top four this season. The Reds, on the other hand, have made it clear with their strong start that they’ll be competing for the title.

With Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City a bit tipsy this season, Arne Slot will be hoping to take full advantage of the situation. Arsenal, on the other hand, has suffered another blunder at the hands of Bournemouth.

Liverpool and Man City maintain their position despite playing one less game as The Gunners lost 2-0 to The Cherries. The Cityzens have a game in hand with their next game being against relegation zoners Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Reds have a must-win game ahead of them as slipping would turn out to be too costly if City win their next game which they very well will. Most people expect The Blues to be an easy game but club captain Virgil van Dijk expects a tough challenge against Maresca’s boys.

ESPN pundit thinks goalkeeper Robert Sánchez will be the prime target of Liverpool’s press

Liverpool haven’t stopped pressing since Jürgen Klopp’s arrival. The very idea of pressing has become an instinct for The Reds even with Arne Slot taking a similarly different approach to the game.

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez has been a question of many blunders this season. Although the Spaniard has shown great shot-stopping abilities, he has sometimes fallen behind in playing from the back.

The most known example this season took place against Arsenal. Sánchez made a sloppy pass from the back which was intercepted by Declan Rice. This blunder directly led to a goal which contributed to Arsenal’s comeback that ended the game in a 2-2 draw.

Rightfully, pundit Craig Burley told ESPN that the Spanish goalkeeper will be targeted strategically against Liverpool. Burley believes that The Reds will initiate a strategic press to force a blunder out of Sánchez.

He [Sánchez] has to be very careful that he picks his moment because Liverpool are a smart side. They’ve been pressing and pressing since Klopp came in.

It might be a little bit different now under Arne Slot, but they’re clever. They’ll watch it, and they’ll wait to pounce at the right time.
