Eden puts the Hazard v Salah debate to bed

Mohamed Salah is widely regarded as one of the best wingers to ever grace the Premier League. Since joining Liverpool in 2017, the Egyptian forward has established himself as an unstoppable force, breaking records and earning his place among the league’s all-time greats.

Salah now sits in the top five of Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorers and is within the top ten of the Premier League’s highest scorers. At 32 years old, he is poised to add to his tally under new Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

Despite his incredible numbers and consistent brilliance, one debate has lingered over the years: Is Mohamed Salah better than Eden Hazard?

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid star dazzled fans with his incredible dribbling, flair, and vision, making the comparison inevitable. However, Hazard himself has now put the debate to rest.

Hazard chooses Salah as the better player

In a recent interview with Sports Bible, Hazard was asked who the better player was—himself or Mohamed Salah.

Despite being just a year older than Salah and known for his mesmerizing play at Chelsea, Hazard was quick to admit that the Egyptian winger is the superior player.

Hazard’s honesty has seemingly ended one of the Premier League’s long-standing debates. Although the Belgian was often considered the more entertaining player to watch, the statistics and career impact heavily favor Salah. The numbers, after all, don’t lie.

Salah’s dominance in numbers

While Hazard’s flair made him a fan favorite, Salah’s consistent production has set him apart.

The Liverpool forward is well on his way to breaking into the top five of the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorers, a feat that would further cement his legacy.

His ability to score in big moments and deliver week in and week out is something that Hazard, as brilliant as he was at Chelsea, never quite matched.

During his time at Liverpool, Salah has been a crucial figure, leading the Reds to their first Premier League title in 30 years in 2020, and playing a starring role in their 2019 UEFA Champions League triumph.

In contrast, Hazard, though instrumental in Chelsea’s success, never matched the sustained level of goal contributions that Salah has consistently provided for Liverpool.
