Several of the international stars in the Liverpool squad started filtering back to their training ground on Tuesday and the rest of the squad are expected to assemble by Thursday morning.
With the international games now done and dusted, Liverpool are now preparing for their big league game against Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.
The club had their eye on a few players who were carrying knocks during the break but were helped by players such as Virgil van Dijk returning early.
Alexis Mac Allister sustained a groin injury just before the international break but did join the Argentina camp and played more than an hour in their 6-0 win over Bolivia on Tuesday night.
Apart from their own players, Liverpool had one eye on a few potential recruits as well and one of their targets sustained a serious injury during the break.
Florian Wirtz sustained an injury in Germany’s win over the Netherlands this week and it has been claimed that it is more serious than previously thought.
No timeline for the Liverpool target’s return to training
Wirtz is expected to move on from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid chasing his signature.
Liverpool are not the favourites to sign him but they are definitely keeping tabs on the attacking midfielder this season.
Leverkusen are likely to demand somewhere around €150m for him but the German club are feeling the nerves about his injury at the moment.
He returned to the club with a ligament injury and Leverkusen admitted that they are not sure when the player will be ready to train again.
His suitors will have a keen eye on his rehabilitation and return to the pitch as they are unlikely to want to invest big sums in someone with a patchy fitness record.
Wirtz is considered one of the great young talents of European football and has been tipped to play for one of the bigwigs of the continent soon.
