Deal complete and personal terms agreed: Liverpool sign exciting left-footed attacker

Fatawu Issahaku

Liverpool have signed Fatawu Issahaku from Steadfast FC for around £1.5m despite suggestions that the Reds have not sealed his signature, beating Manchester United to the punch.

The 17-year-old left-footed starlet dazzled at the 2021 U20 Africa Cup of Nations and was named Player of the Tournament, highlighting his talent.

He is one of the most exciting young talents in the world and is arguably the best coming out of Africa but despite his obvious ability, Liverpool cannot announce him moving to the club due to new immigration laws.

James Pearce took to his Twitter account on Tuesday morning to report: “Liverpool FC have not signed Ghanaian teenager Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and loaned him to Sporting – despite some reports to the contrary.

“For a start, they can’t as he’s U18. He’s joined Sporting on a permanent. Liverpool FC are adamant they have no involvement and no commitment to take him in the future.”

The Athletic journalist even replied to a comment suggesting that he was acting as a mouthpiece for the club.

Anfield Central has been told by the same source that kept us informed of Konate’s move to Liverpool that Issahaku will, in fact, spend the 2021/22 season with Sporting Lisbon until he is eligible for a UK work permit.

The Portuguese club has agreed to keep Issahaku until he is free to move to Liverpool and despite a financially enticing offer from Manchester United, the Ghanaian has chosen the Reds.

Liverpool’s commitment to offering him a route into the first team and Jurgen Klopp’s track record with young talent were enough to convince the young attacking midfielder that he’d be better suited joining them.
