Deflating update on the Liverpool pursuit of top striker

Liverpool are expected to sign a striker next summer as Arne Slot wants to add more goals to his squad despite the team looking like the top contenders to win the Premier League this season.

Darwin Nunez has failed to impress the Liverpool manager who wants a more reliable goalscorer to lead the team’s line next season as part of his plans to rejuvenate the squad.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and his recruitment team have been looking at several strikers and are expected to settle down on a top target in the coming months.

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has emerged as a shock target for next summer and the Reds are also believed to be interested in signing Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.

However, the one name who has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield is the Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush who is in the form of his life this season.

German dealmaker weighs in on the Reds’ interest in Marmoush

Marmoush has scored 14 goals and registered ten assists in 17 appearances across all competitions this season and is one of the top targets for Liverpool.

The striker also wants to join the Merseyside giants as his dream is said to be succeeding his idol Mohamed Salah at Anfield going forward.

There are suggestions that initial talks have already taken place for a summer move and he is almost certain to move to Merseyside at the end of the season.

However, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung has played down the Liverpool links with Marmoush and stressed that the Reds have not made any contact with regard to signing the forward.

He claimed that for the moment Eintracht are not in any negotiations with any club regarding selling Marmoush.

“No, we have no contact with Liverpool regarding Marmoush, no negotiations or contacts”, Hardung told Win Win.

“I know the people there but there is nothing and there is no contact with any club regarding the player.”

Marmoush wants the move and Liverpool have a clear interest in him but it seems there is no club-to-club contact at the moment.

However, the Reds would feel they have enough time to hold talks with Eintracht given the plan is to sign the forward next summer.
