Danny Mills has claimed that Lionel Messi would not get into Liverpool’s best side – or any of the other top six teams in the Premier League.
The former Premier League footballer – who played for Leeds United, Manchester City and England – made the controversial statement on TalkSPORT.
He claimed the seven-time Balon D’or winner wouldn’t get into any of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal or Manchester United’s strongest teams.
The 35-year-old has endured a difficult time in Paris, despite being partnered with former Barcelona teammate Neymar and one of the world’s best in Kylian Mbappe.

Mills said on TalkSPORT: “I think he is the greatest footballer I have ever seen. I didn’t see Cruyff live, I didn’t see Maradona. Messi is the greatest footballer I have ever seen.”
He added: “I know Ronaldo’s numbers may be slightly better and he’s more of a big game player and all of the rest of it, but, in terms of a pure footballer, Messi is the greatest. But, would you take Messi now in your team? Probably not.
“We’re talking Premier League aren’t we realistically. Liverpool wouldn’t take him, City wouldn’t take him. Tottenham wouldn’t take him, no I don’t think they would.”

He managed just 11 goals in all competitions following a spectacular move from Barcelona to PSG last summer.
However, the Argentinian did manage 15 assists in Ligue 1 as PSG strolled to the title.
He also managed five goals in seven games in the Champions League, including a vintage Messi strike against City in the group stages.
FSG may prefer to sign players with drastically lower wages but to say Messi wouldn’t get into Liverpool’s squad let alone the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester is just absurd.
