Contract renewals have become a big theme for Liverpool as Arne Slot focuses on maintaining stability at Anfield. The Dutchman is clearly concerned with major contracts running out, but the Reds’ focus is currently on a key player.
Ibrahima Konate is one of the biggest concerns, as Slot already has unsolved problems in the back. Giovanni Leoni was injured against Southampton, facing an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) concern.
The Italian centre-back will be out for a year, which makes the centre-back options decline to three for Slot. AC Milan is expected to make a move on Joe Gomez in January following their interest in the summer.
The English centre-back’s role is undefined as he plays second fiddle to starters Virgil van Dijk and Konate. Hence, a move to Serie A might be the perfect opportunity to relaunch his career.

Liverpool Ryan Gravenberch new contract updates

Despite Konate receiving heavy interest from Real Madrid, the Reds are more focused on Ryan Gravenberch despite the midfielder’s contract expiring in 2028.
The Dutch footballer is considered a key player in Slot’s team, and recent interest from Real Madrid have alarmed the Reds to take action against a mishap.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are seriously considering a new contract for the Dutchman. Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the following details on the Inside Track podcast.
“There’ll be confidence from Liverpool that they could tie down Gravenberch to a new deal. He’s been brilliant for them since Slot came in at Anfield, he was instrumental in their Premier League title success last year and arguably has been their best player this season.”
“He’d be fully deserving of a new contract; he has three years remaining on his current deal, and Liverpool will look to discuss a new deal to end speculation over a move to Real Madrid.”
“Liverpool are confident they can keep hold of Gravenberch because he’s a key figure in Slot’s plans and he is happy at Liverpool as well.”
“There’s a willingness for all parties to sit down and thrash out a new deal because Liverpool see him as one of the first names on the team sheet at Anfield.”
Following interest from Los Blancos, the Reds are not going to entertain an offer for Gravenberch, says the report. Xabi Alonso has been trying to hunt the midfielder for a long time, but it looks like another failure is on the cards.
