‘Concern’ emerges about 22-year-old player Liverpool want to replace Mohamed Salah

Arne Slot will have to play a new backup for Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have big decisions to make in the coming months over the futures of several of their star players who have been key in the club’s progress in the last few years.

Arne Slot’s start to his time as the Liverpool manager has helped the club ride a wave of optimism in the last couple of months with the team now sitting at the top of the Premier League table.

The Dutchman has taken the pressure away from the club hierarchy who came under criticism from fans due to a lacklustre summer transfer window.

However, Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, has big decisions to make given the fact that Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are in the final year of their respective contracts.

Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Mohamed Salah is wanted in Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool want to hold on to the Egpytian star but there are suggestions that the club are already working on identifying a replacement for the winger.

Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi has been identified as a potential successor to Salah and Liverpool could make a move for him in the summer.

The attacker has made a brilliant start to the season but there remains concern about him as a long-term prospect.

The Liverpool target’s injury record is unflattering

Adeyemi has scored five goals and registered five assists in eight games in all competitions for Dortmund this season.

However, he is currently out with a muscle injury and according to Sky Deutschland, his fitness issues are a concern for his suitors.

His injury record could be one of the reasons his suitors, including Liverpool, could hit the pause button on pursuing him in the next summer transfer window.

Adeyemi missed a large chunk of last season with a ligament injury and it was a similar story in the 2022/23 campaign where he missed several games due to a foot and a muscle injury.

His fitness will be closely monitored from now until the end of the season if Liverpool are to make a move for him in the summer.
