Liverpool are looking to strengthen several areas of their squad in the next two transfer windows as the squad get ready for an evolution under new manager Arne Slot.
The Reds couldn’t do what they wanted in the summer and their failure to land an elite defensive midfielder did disappoint fans who were looking forward to some exciting signings to signal the start of a new era under a new manager.
However, Slot’s managerial acumen has made sure that Liverpool didn’t suffer and he has managed to turn Ryan Gravenberch into an elite number 6 operator at the start of the season.
The Liverpool hierarchy want to support Slot more in January and signing a central midfielder is a key priority for the club in the winter transfer window.
The Merseyside giants are also considering the prospect of bringing in a new left-back given Andy Robertson is on the wrong side of 30 and the club are considering several options.
Liverpool have their eyes on a Premier League-proven left-back
Liverpool are expected to bring in a left-back next summer as they are seeking a long-term successor to Robertson.
According to TeamTalk, the Reds are amongst the clubs who are interested in getting their hands on Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
The Hungarian arrived at Bournemouth last year and has emerged as one of the best young left-backs in the Premier League over the last season.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are also among the clubs who are keeping tabs on the player.
It has been claimed Bournemouth are expecting bids for Kerkez in the winter window but they are planning to sell him in the middle of the season.
The Premier League club would only be keen to entertain offers for him at the end of the season and in the summer.
Will the Reds make a play for him in January?
Robertson is still going strong at the moment and Kostas Tsimikas has been an able deputy at left-back to the Scotsman.
For the moment, it doesn’t seem Liverpool will need to bring in a left-back in the middle of the season.
Kerkez is a target but they are not expected to make a move for him in January and Bournemouth are also expected to wait until the summer to sell him.
However, if the Hungarian is a priority target and another club get close to signing him in January, Liverpool could consider bringing forward their transfer plans.
