Club confirms £100m Liverpool target is not for sale

Premier League title prediction

Liverpool are in the market to reinforce their squad. An heir apparent for Mohamed Salah is also a primary concern for The Reds. Although one such target is off the table as the player’s club.

Mohamed Salah is having a less than usual kind of season. Last term he averaged 1.24 goal contributions per match. In 38 appearances Salah had 47 goal contributions. But that average has fallen drastically this term. In eight games, the Egyptian has four contributions at an average o.5 per match.

Add to it that the winger has failed to make any such contribution in his last five matches for the club across competitions. So the search for an heir is already on.

Liverpool target is not for sale

Michael Olise is currently tearing up things up in Germany. The France international has six goals and as many assists in 11 games this season. The right-winger has improved and is building on last term’s performances.

However, Bayern Munich sports director Max Eberl dismissed all rumours of an impending sale.

“What is missing in this discussion is that we signed Michael Olise, who has a contract with us until 2029. Without a release clause and is on his way to becoming one of the best players on the planet.” reaffirming his trust in the player, in an interview with German magazine 11Freunde.

No release clause makes things more difficult

Even if a player is officially not on sale, many clubs have still done business. But absence of an exit clause makes things trick for Anfield. Salah turn 34 next year, so the urgency to find a replacement is likely to increase as well.

Bayern will have the upper hand in the negotiations. They currently value Olise at least a £100m. So any exit will have to be for an amount north of that number.

With Liverpool already spending over £400m this summer, will the club’s management be prepared to go on another spending spree? At this point in the season one can only speculate.

But finding an heir apparent for Mohamed will remain Liverpool’s primary concern over the coming few months. And time is ticking.
