The Liverpool attack will receive a lot of attention this summer.
This season has been a weird one for the reds. Statistically the team remain one of the best attacking sides in Europe. However, upon closer look, Mohamed Salah has done all the work this season. The Egyptian has carried much of the workload in the team, with the other attackers contributing minimal productivity.
To show how wide the gap is, Salah is top scorer in the Premier League with 27 goals. Liverpool’s second highest scorer in the same competition is Luis Diaz with nine. This poses a huge dilemma for the reds heading into next season. And with the looming threat of a Mohamed Salah exit, something will be done in the transfer market.

Player says he will not be involved in Liverpool links

Depending on Mohamed Salah’s future, two things could happen at Liverpool this summer. If the 32-year old decides to sign a new contract, then the club will have to give him better teammates next season. At his age, Salah cannot continue carrying this Liverpool attack over a whole campaign. And if the Egyptian international decides to leave, the reds need to decide on a replacement. It will be very difficult to find a player who can create and score at the rate Mohamed Salah has produced this season.
Liverpool could also go for lesser known players who could step up at a higher level. That is how Michael Edwards signed Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino who became mainstays in the first team under Jurgen Klopp.
Feyenoord star Igor Paixao could be exactly the type of profile needed. The 24-year old Brazilian winger is young and has had decent production in the Eredivisie. Paixao has been linked with a move to Anfield this year. But in a recent interview with ESPN, he admits he will not be involved in any transfer business as he hopes Feyenoord will make the right choice:
“My focus is still here. I want to end the season well. I want to make the supporters happy,” he said.
“I leave it to God. My agents and the Feyenoord board choose the best path.
“I believe in God because of how I am doing. Everyone can see how hard I work for it. I believe that things will go well by themselves.”
Paixao could be available for around £42million this summer.
