Liverpool juggles multiple last-minute signings as The Reds plan on surprising The Isles on deadline day. The earliest transfer confirmed on the last day of the transfer window was of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak for £125m.
With all the talks suggesting The Magpies would stand their ground against letting the Swede go, a British record fee seems to have convinced the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund to change their mind.
The Telegraph reported that the money being ‘good enough’ resulted in the change of plans at St. James Park. But this also suggests an underlying assumption at Tyneside, as they expect an incoming striker to replace their target man.
This has been one of the ugliest transfer sagas in recent football history, with the player taking to social media, accusing his employers of ‘breaking promises’.
“Silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn’t reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time.”
“To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationships can’t continue. That’s where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself”, claimed Alexander Isak on Instagram.

Arne Slot finally fills the hole up top

The Swede arrived in Liverpool for the medicals this morning. Things seem to be going well, and the transfer should be complete before the deadline.
Liverpool lost three strikers this year and were missing a hitman up front. Luis Díaz was sold to Bayern Munich and Darwin Núñez left for Saudi Arabia.
The biggest hit came when Diogo Jota tragically passed away in a car crash in Spain. This was probably the biggest shocker to The Reds as it left a big shoe to fill at Anfield.
As these events unfolded, Liverpool was left with all the creative prowess without the finisher. Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa fit perfectly to provide for a goal-hungry striker.
Although The Merseysiders had signed Hugo Etikite, the Frenchman is still in a bit of a developmental stage. The youngster is new to the Premier League and will naturally take time to get used to it.
Isak, on the other hand, has done phenomenally in the league with only Mohamed Salah outscoring him last season.
