With the winter transfer window closed, Liverpool can start their plans for this summer.
The Reds were active towards the deadline on Monday night. The club were able to loan out a number of young players including Jayden Danns and Calvin Ramsay. No player was signed as Arne Slot was adamant that he was happy with his squad:
“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.
“But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”
Liverpool reportedly want to see how the rest of the season plays out before they make any decisions.

Which means the futures of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk will be decided later this season. The Reds will also assess the future of Darwin Nunez this summer, with the team likely to be in the market for a new striker. In the unlikely event that all three key players reject offers to remain at Anfield, the club will need to replace all of them.
Liverpool have already offered a new deal to Ibrahima Konate. The Reds are also seriously preparing for the departure of Van Dijk. Caught Offside reports that Liverpool have ”serious” interest in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. The Brazilian recently signed a new four-year deal with Forest.
Murillo was happy on signing the extension:
“I’m very thankful and very happy that there are four more years to come. I’m thankful to everyone for the support – not just to me, but to my family as well.
“Everywhere I go, every shop, wherever it is, they treat my family and I really well. So, I’m very grateful for everything they do for myself and for the team.
“I’m sure that we’ve got a big future in front of us.”
However, the report suggests that despite the long-term contract, Murillo could be available. A fee of £80million has been put forward for the defender who has been one of the best in the league this season.
Is Murillo worth spending £80M?
Losing Van Dijk would be a huge blow, his ability to anchor the defence is unparalleled. Liverpool losing their captain puts them in a difficult situation. Because whoever they sign will be expected to fill his shoes. Murillo is great, but he still has a lot to work on. Liverpool can take a chance on the Brazilian just like they did with Van Dijk all those years ago.
