Bayern Munich make decision on Liverpool star

Liverpool have a lot of tough decisions to make this summer.

The priority is the futures of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk. All three have been long term servants at the club, and played a huge part in the success in the Jurgen Klopp era. This season, the trio have been instrumental in how well the team have played under Arne Slot. Salah has over 40 league goal involvements and is frontrunner for Player of the Year this season. Van Dijk has anchored one of the best defences in Europe this season, and Trent has rediscovered his form from last year.

Liverpool also have another set of problems on their hands this summer. Three players have their contracts at Anfield expiring in 2026. Ibrahima Konate, Caomhin Kelleher and Andrew Robertson all have a year left on their deals.

As the season draws closer to an end, Liverpool are losing hope of keeping Trent, Van Dijk and Salah. There is a high possibility all three decide to leave when their contracts expire. Just last week, Virgil Van Dijk wanted to listen to the reds’ offer before he takes any decision in the summer.

When it comes to players with a year left on their contracts, Liverpool could offer Robertson a short term extension, while Ibrahima Konate is yet to sign a new deal on the table. Caomhin Kelleher is expected to leave Anfield this summer, with multiple Premier League clubs showing interest.

Liverpool will have one less club to worry about when it comes to Mohamed Salah. According to Christian Falk, Bayern Munich will not be making a move to sign the Egyptian international on a free transfer this summer. He wrote this on his column via Caught Offside:

“It’s not true that Bayern would be prepared to swoop for Mo Salah if his contract is allowed to expire at Liverpool,”

“There’s no movement from Bayern Munich for Salah regardless of what happens with his contract. The same also applies to Virgil van Dijk. Many ‘not trues’ with this particular rumour!”

The report claims Bayern do not see the deal as financially sound, as they would have to pay Mohamed Salah’s £350,000-per-week wages.

Salah’s future at Anfield

After the events of the past week, it looks really unlikely that Mohamed Salah stays at Liverpool. Part of the reason he wants to stay in Europe is to continue at the highest level. With the reds losing out on two trophies this season, the level of the team may not be appealing for the 32-year old to continue next season. Liverpool might have missed out on a great opportunity to keep Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
