Arsenal have concrete interest in Liverpool star described as ‘perfect fit’

Liverpool could end up selling some of their first team stars this summer.

The reds are planning multiple changes to the squad. Liverpool will make their transfer decisions based on the futures of Salah, Trent and Van Dijk. The trio are yet to commit to long-term contracts at Anfield. All three have been a big reason why Liverpool are in contention to win the treble this year. The reds have booked a place in the League Cup final. Liverpool are also firmly in the race to win the Premier League, and the Champions League.

Arne Slot recently said to BBC that the reds are focused on bringing new faces in this summer.

“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.

“But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”

Liverpool will also look at potential exits to fund transfers. Some names that have popped up according to reports include Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz. Nunez has been linked with a move to AC Milan who are prepared to pay big money for a deal. Barcelona are also exploring a potential swap deal for Luis Diaz.

Diogo Jota could also be on the move. Football Insider report that Jota is on Arsenal’s transfer link ahead of the summer window. The Portuguese international has been an integral part of the Liverpool team since he joined. But he has missed so many games through injuries, that the reds are considering cashing in on him.

Transfer expert Mick Brown has explained why Arsenal would be interested in signing the 28-year old:

“Jota is one of the names on Arsenal’s list. He’s got a very impressive goal scoring record at Liverpool and he does play as a sort of hybrid forward for them; he’s not an out-and-out striker.

“Arsenal want somebody who can play on the wing as well as through the middle, and he fits that mould. He still scores goals and he’s very effective.

“He would give Mikel Arteta’s side something they haven’t got at the moment – a player who is going to guarantee them goals and a threat in behind

Time for reds to move on from Jota

Even though the forward has been the source of crucial goals for Liverpool, his time at the club must come to an end. The reds cannot keep depending on him being fit to get value from him every season. You can understand the club’s frustration with him; this season he was the club’s striker to start the campaign. After a few impressive games, he got injured and Arne Slot has had to use Luis Diaz in that role since.
