Arsenal sit atop the English Premier League table as Liverpool lost their third game in a row across all competitions. Two of these games were in the Premier League as the Reds failed to secure points against Crystal Palace and Chelsea.
The Gunners, on the other hand, had a decent week as they are one point clear of second-placed Liverpool as the football world enters an international break.
Arsenal haven’t lost a single game since losing to the Merseysiders when they visited Anfield. The game ended 1-0 as Dominik Szoboszlai made sure that the Reds go into September’s break with three points in the bag.
Arteta’s men have made a comeback as Arsenal haven’t lost a single game after the September international break. Slot has a different story because the Merseysiders are seemingly unable to perform in London.

Slot spoke after the Chelsea game, where Brazilian teenager Estevao scored the winning goal for the Blues. The Dutchman was visibly disappointed losing the top spot going into a break.
“Another disappointing loss. That’s clear. Another game similar to the Palace game, although the game was completely different because the playing style of both teams is completely different”, the Dutchman told Liverpoolfc.com.
The Reds gaffer also spoke about the connection between Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak, which the players are still building.
“The more they play together, the more they will connect. I think that’s what you saw in the second half, already a little bit from the start, but especially after I had to take Konate off because he felt his quad. When Ryan started to play in that position, we were able to get our attackers in much more promising situations much more than in the first half.”

On building the ideal team and balance
Slot also talked about building a team in his “ideal image”, which he clarified is never realistically achievable. He also mentioned how hard it is to reach such a level in the first place.
“I think you are never close to your ideal. You have to work really hard to reach a certain level, and then it’s very hard in football because you also play against very good teams to keep that level going, and what I mean with that is consistency.”
The gaffer mentioned his hopes before the clash, but also told the press how teams like Chelsea are always tough, even if they are missing eight players.
“You go here to Stamford Bridge with them having eight injuries, so you’re like, ‘This can be positive, then they probably don’t have the options from the bench.’ But they did still have a few good options from the bench to impact the game.”
