Liverpool boss Arne Slot will be involved in transfers this summer.
Since the Dutch coach took over this season, he has not really had a say in the club’s dealings. Liverpool only signed two first team players on a permanent deal this season. Federico Chiesa joined on a cut-price deal from Juventus, and Giorgi Mamardashvili signed from Valencia. The Georgian international keeper was sent back on loan till the end of the season.
Because of the limited transfer activity this summer, Arne Slot has had to do with the current Liverpool squad. However, he made it work. His new possession-based style has brought the best out players like Ryan Gravenberch. Liverpool could have ended the season with a treble, however bad results against Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle ended the chase for two trophies.
The reds now have only the Premier League to challenge for between now and the end of the season.

Arne Slot makes contact with Liverpool target

Liverpool are planning an overhaul of the squad ahead of next season. The defence is the main area of concern ahead of the summer window. The reds could lose three of their starting back four from this season. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are set to leave at the end of their contracts this summer. Ibrahima Konate could also follow the duo out of the door, the French defender is attracting interest from major European clubs.
The reds have made progress finding a long-term replacement for Andrew Robertson at left back. Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez is on the red’s shortlist this summer, and club sources reveal that he is open to moving to Anfield.
According to Christian Falk, Liverpool are also closing in on signing a new right back. Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong has been linked with a move to England this past month. Falk reported that Liverpool boss Arne Slot has been in contact with the player over the past few weeks:
“Jeremie Frimpong and Arne Slot were on the phone a lot last month. Both are Dutch, and Slot wanted to sign him in the summer,”
“The Liverpool head coach had been telling the fullback he was still keen to get him. However, he’s very upfront and honest, so Frimpong is aware that, at the moment, a striker and a defender are the main targets for Liverpool who aren’t going to get any fees in for Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah or Trent Alexander-Arnold should all three leave at the end of their contracts this summer.”
The reds return to action when they face Everton in the Premier League at the end of the month.
