Liverpool are set to back Arne Slot in the summer transfer window after he delivered the Premier League title in his first season at Anfield. It seems the Reds boss is already flexing his muscles by pushing the club to sign a player favoured by him.
Slot has consolidated his power at Liverpool after winning the Premier League this season, and will have a major say on the club’s transfer dealings in the upcoming window.
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes will still lead the recruitment process, but he is likely to find it hard to deny the demands made by a Premier League-winning manager.
The Dutchman is already pushing the Reds towards signing a right-back he wants, and it seems he is set to get the attacking midfielder of his choice as well.

Slot pushes Liverpool towards Netherlands star

Xavi Simons has been on Liverpool’s radar this summer, and he has also been linked with a move to Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window.
However, it emerged recently that Manchester United have cooled their interest in the RB Leipzig star, and Liverpool have a clear run at signing him.
Mick Brown, a former Premier League scout, has claimed that Slot is now driving Liverpool’s interest in Simons, and he wants his compatriot at Anfield.
The Reds boss believes the midfielder will suit his system and is now pushing the club to sign the Dutchman in the summer window.
“Liverpool are looking at a deal to sign Xavi Simons”, Brown told Football Insider.
“It’s always a positive when the manager knows a player well, and I believe he does here.
“He’s the real driving force behind the move, and that’s important because he knows the way he plays, the positives and negatives to his game and what he would bring to the side.
“He’ll know where he would fit into his system, and believes he would be an upgrade on what they’ve got.
“Liverpool’s scouts will have had a look at him as well to back up the manager’s opinion.
“Liverpool have got to be careful because they’ve got a very good side who have won the league, and now they have to think ‘how do we get better?’
“It’s easy to say, but very difficult to do, you have to find the right options.
“If Slot is a fan of Simons and believes he would be the right fit, then I’m sure he’s a player they’ll go for.”
RB Leipzig are prepared to sell and are expected to accept offers in the region of £60m this summer.
