Liverpool made two signings in the summer transfer window but will soon announce a third. It will not, however, be a major deal for the first team but rather for teenager Rio Ngumoha.
The first deal the Reds wrapped up this summer was a deal to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili but the 23-year-old will not arrive at the club until the start of pre-season next year.
He has returned to Valencia on loan where he will remain for the duration of the current campaign.
The Reds did, however, sign Italian high-flyer Federico Chiesa and he was spotted on the bench for Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
He will make his first appearance for the Reds when they regroup after the international break.
So, who is Rio Ngumoha and when will Liverpool sign him?
Liverpool are world famous for how they nurture and promote youth talent. The same Academy that produced the likes of Steven Gerrard and, more recently, Trent Alexander Arnold will be welcoming 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha to their ranks.
Ngumoha joins the club from Chelsea after Liverpool reached an agreement for his transfer with the Blues this summer.
However, the deal is not clear cut.
Paul Gorst explains five-step Premier League registration process Ngumoha must complete before Liverpool move
Speaking on the Blood Red podcast, Liverpool correspondent Paul Gorst has explained that before Ngumoha can complete his move to Anfield, he must first complete a five-step registration with the Premier League.
“I asked someone about that last week,” said Gorst. “He’s going through the Premier League five step registration thing apparently and that takes a little bit of time, but no concerns or issues.
“He will be part of the academy set up in the next two weeks. He will be a Liverpool player and one who academy staff are massively excited about.”
