Celtic are on the verge of completing a move for Colombian attacker Camilo Duran after the player reportedly agreed personal terms with the club.
Duran’s agent made the trip to Glasgow last week to finalise a contract, with the player understood to have signed off on the deal.
The 23-year-old emerged as Celtic’s top transfer priority over the past week as the club look to strengthen their attacking options.
Duran had a breakout season in Azerbaijan following his £200,000 move from Portimonense last summer, quickly establishing himself as one of the division’s standout players.
He made his mark not only domestically but also in the Champions League, producing game-winning performances against Eintracht Frankfurt and Benfica to help Qarabag reach the knockout stages.
Celtic submitted an opening offer of around £1.7m for the forward, which Qarabag promptly rejected, though a renewed approach was always anticipated.
Multiple reports emerging from Azerbaijan now indicate that a second offer is imminent and is expected to be sufficient to push the transfer over the line.
Reports vary on the precise figure involved, but the general consensus is that the new offer will be significantly closer to the £3m that Qarabag have been demanding.
Should the deal be concluded, Duran would become Qarabag’s record sale, surpassing the £2.5m fee received when Leandro Andrade joined Polissya earlier this summer.
Celtic and Qarabag now appear to be the only barrier remaining, with personal terms already resolved and both clubs edging toward a formal agreement.
The swift resolution of Duran’s contract discussions in Glasgow signals the player’s clear desire to make the move to Scottish football’s most successful club.
Celtic supporters will be eager to see the Colombian make his mark in the SPFL, particularly given his ability to perform on the European stage against top opposition.
