Rangers youngster Bailey Rice is set to commit his future to the Ibrox club, turning down interest from several high-profile European and English sides.
Record Sport understands the out-of-contract midfielder has agreed fresh terms and will put pen to paper later this week.
The 19-year-old’s future at Rangers had appeared uncertain following an injury-hit campaign in which he made just one appearance.
Rice was persuaded to sign on again following talks with departing manager Danny Rohl, who leaves the club as a parting gift to his successor.
Rohl’s soon-to-be-confirmed exit for RB Salzburg and the arrival of Derek McInnes as his replacement has not altered Rice’s thinking about his future.
Dutch giants Ajax and German side Schalke had both lodged their interest with the Scotland Under-21 international’s representatives before he made his decision.
Premier League clubs Leeds and Nottingham Forest, along with newly relegated West Ham, had also been monitoring the young defensive midfielder’s contract situation.
Rice has long been regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Scotland since joining the club from Motherwell in 2022.
His trajectory looked highly promising when he was selected by former caretaker manager Barry Ferguson to start a Europa League quarter-final against Athletic Bilbao in March 2025.
That appearance ended in heartbreak after Rice sustained a season-ending injury during the tie, setting back his development significantly.
He then suffered further misfortune last term when a training ground injury ruled him out for several months, requiring what Rohl later described as a “big operation.”
His only outing during the most recent season came in a 45-minute appearance in a Premier Sports Cup victory over Alloa under former boss Russell Martin.
Rice has been stepping up his rehabilitation in recent months, spending part of his summer working at the NXT LEVEL gym in Marbella.
New manager McInnes will now hope to finally unlock Rice’s full potential once the midfielder returns to full fitness ahead of the new campaign.
